On April 22nd the Boston Chapter will be holding a combined Professional Development seminar followed by the Dinner Meeting celebrating the 100th Anniversay as a chapter of the IMA.

The afternoon Professional Development sessions will feature IMA Chair-Elect Dr. Paul E. Juras, CMA, CPA presenting the Ethics seminar entitled “The Slippery Slope of Greed”, this will be followed by presentation on Forensic Accounting given by Ms. Kelly Webber, Supervisor of the Financial Squad of the Boston Division of the FBI and Ms. Rita Iacone, Supervisory Special Agent of the Health Care Fraud Program for the Boston Division of the FBI. And a 1 hour session entitled “ Cyber Shields; GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation) Compliance and Preventative Law” presented by Chris Keefer- Keffer Strategy and Danny Eastman -Cyber Fortified. The Ethics qualifies for 2 hr CPE and each other session provides 1.0 hour of CPE.

The Evening program will consist of a Networking/Cocktail Reception followed by a Buffet Dinner and our Keynote speaker Mr. Tim Zue Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of the Boston Red Sox presenting “The Evolution of Data Driven Decision Making at the Boston Red Sox.” Special Guest: IMA Chair; Christian Cuzick, CMA

Speaker Bios
Paul Juras, CMA, CPA, Ph.D., is Chair-Elect of IMA's® (Institute of Management Accountants) Global Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. He is also chair of IMA’s Nominating Committee and a member of the Governance Committee.

 
Dr. Juras is the Vander Wolk Professor of Managerial Accounting and Operational Performance at Babson College, where he teaches managerial accounting and strategic cost management courses in the MBA and undergraduate programs. Before joining the Babson faculty, Dr. Juras taught at Wake Forest University. He earned his Ph.D. from Syracuse University and both his BBA and MBA from Pace University.

 Dr. Juras’ area of expertise is strategic management accounting. He has published articles in numerous journals, including the Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, Issues in Accounting Education, The CPA Journal, and Strategic Finance, and his current research interests focus on contemporary cost management systems. Dr. Juras also has co-authored a cost management textbook as well as numerous case studies with a cost management perspective. He has provided service to IMA on a number of levels, including as a member of the Global Board of Directors, the ICMA Board of Regents, and chair of the IMA Research Foundation.


Kelly Webber serves as the supervisor of the Financial Squad in the Boston Division, which consists of Forensic Accountants who conduct financial investigations covering the four-state region. Prior to transitioning into the management role in 2008, she served in the role of Financial Analyst, primarily working white collar crime violations. Her prior work experience was with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, as a Commissioned Bank Examiner. She is currently also a Board Member of the CFO Leadership Council's Boston Chapter.

Rita Iacone is the Supervisory Special Agent of the Health Care Fraud Program for the Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Rita has almost 17 years of FBI experience investigating primarily white-collar crime matters. Prior to joining the FBI, Rita worked in public accounting as a Certified Public Accountant.

Timothy Zue
Executive Vice President / Chief Financial Officer

Tim Zue is responsible for the financial management of the Boston Red Sox overseeing the organization's operating budget, accounting, financial planning, forecasting, and business analytics. Prior to his current role, Zue served as Senior Vice President of Finance, Strategy and Analytics for both the Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management (FSM).

During his 17-year career with the club, Zue has played a key role in all financial aspects of the business, including the evaluation and execution of all non-baseball events, ticket pricing decisions, the financial impact of Fenway Park improvements, and the creation of the Red Sox Rewards loyalty program. He also helped conduct the financial due diligence related to Fenway Sports Group's acquisitions of Roush Fenway Racing, Liverpool Football Club, and the marketing rights for LeBron James.

With FSM, Zue managed the business operations department responsible for the sports marketing firm's consulting, events, and experiences divisions. Under his leadership, FSM created the onsite photography service Fanfoto, the fan travel program MLB Destinations, Red Sox Fantasy Camps, and Youth Baseball Summer Camps. During his tenure, Fanfoto expanded from three teams to more than 30, and the MLB Destinations program grew to include seven Major League Baseball clubs.

In early 2017 Zue was promoted to Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer and he was also selected as one of Sports Business Journal's "40 Under 40" Award recipients, an honor that recognized him as one of the best young talents in the business of sports.
Prior to joining the Red Sox and FSM, Zue worked for Bain & Company in Boston as an associate consultant. He also taught middle school math and technology in the Boston Public School system for four years.

Zue received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1999, where he won a robotics design contest and competed in an international robotics design competition in Tokyo. A native of Winchester, MA, Zue lives in Lexington with his wife Nicole and their three children Adelyn, Harrison and Vivienne. *

Parking at the UMass club:
Parking is available for Members and guests at 1 Beacon Street. It can be a bit tricky to find the entrance so please follow these directions:

Come to the Club via Cambridge St. (which becomes Tremont St. just past City Hall). Stay to the right and look for a sign for the PIPERI restaurant on the right. Enter the garage right before the sign and stay to the left to enter the One Beacon Street Garage.
There is additional parking in the Government Center Garage, or the PO Square Garage; all within walking distance of the Club
