President's Message

Boston Chapter Presidents Message,

I am honored to serve as President of one of the oldest chapters in IMA. Several individuals
were involved not only in the Chapter's formation, but were also involved in starting the organization
itself. In February 1920 the chapter was formed and received its Official Charter on April
26th, 1920 as one of the 1st five chapters of the then Institute of Cost Accountants. Several Past
Presidents of the chapter have gone on to serve as National Presidents. Members of the
chapter helped organize the NorthEast Regional Council and various Past Presidents have
gone on to serve as Presidents of the council. The chapter has had several distinguished
speakers over the past 100 years including President John F. Kennedy prior to him being elected,
Senator Edward M. Kennedy when served as Assistant District Attorney Suffolk County and
several Governors of the Commonwealth. In this regard we will be celebrating our 100th
Anniversary on April 22nd, 2020 at the UMASS Club in Boston. Not only will we have the IMA
President and CEO, the Global Chair of the IMA for 2019-2020 but our keynote speaker will
be the CFO of the Boston Red Sox. The Anniversary committee is hard at work on the event
and it promises to be a Gala Event. The VP of Education along with the Director of Meetings are
hard at work planning educational events for the coming year so be on the lookout for
announcements. We have a very dedicated group serving as the Board of Directors helping to
take the chapter in to its 101 st year and beyond. I am looking forward to a successful year. Be
sure to visit our Web page often for future announcements, see and like us on our Facebook
page, check us out on LinkedIn and Link-Up IMA and sign up to get our tweets on Twitter.

Sincerely

Mark D. Romboli
President 2019-2020
